Graduate Co-op

Gain professional experience while completing your degree

At D'Amore-McKim, integrating experience-powered learning is what we do best. As you strive to advance your career or change industries (or both), gaining experience applying what you learn in the classroom will be invaluable.

Curricular Practical Training for F-1 International Students

The D'Amore-McKim MS in Business Analytics program offers students the opportunity to engage in experience-powered learning opportunities. These can be full- or part-time co-ops directly related to your major area of study. F-1 international students need to request and receive authorization to engage in Curricular Practical Training (CPT) before they can begin an experiential learning opportunity. Learn more about Curricular Practical Training.

If you are interested in pursuing CPT, Northeastern University's Office of Global Services (OGS) offers international students resources and advising to help you maintain immigration compliance. F-1 international students must obtain CPT authorization from OGS. Schedule an advising appointment with OGS

Graduate Co-op: Learn by Doing

Apply what you've learned in the classroom to a project at a leading company or startup through our graduate co-op program. These professional, on-the-job learning experiences offer meaningful, practical work opportunities related to your career interests.

During your co-op, you'll work on a specific project, get a feel for the company's culture, and participate in the organization's greater mission. Your expertise in your field equips you to offer unique perspectives and take on strategic assignments and complex projects. A co-op is an excellent opportunity to learn by doing while building relevant professional experience and professional connections.

Timeline

Summer co-ops typically last 8-12 weeks during the summer between your first and second year of study. While less common, you could complete a co-op part-time. Co-ops may be completed remotely, in person, or a hybrid combination of remote and in-person work. You are encouraged to work closely with your advisor when planning your co-op.

Graduate co-ops are competitive and you'll want to take the time to prepare your resume and cover letter.  Many graduate co-op jobs are posted on the Global Talent System; however, the most comprehensive list of positions is often on an employer's website. Some employers also post positions on job and internship search websites. These sites are good sources for current open positions and may help you identify companies that offer a position aligned with your professional interests.
